7 Ways to Stay Encouraged When You Ready to Give Up

Staying encouraged is truly tested when it seems that you’ve failed and have no other options.

But there are techniques that can be used to shift these negative feelings and guide you to encouragement.

Have you ever felt that even though you’ve tried your best, everything always seems to go wrong?

You can almost taste the victory but can never get to the finish line.

It can make you just want to throw in the towel on the whole idea and give up.

To make things worse, you may have people around you who don’t support you.

Now, this may not have anything to do with whether they love you or want you to do well.

It usually has to do with one of two things.  Either they don’t understand what it is that you are trying to achieve, or they have their own views of what you should be doing instead.

Either way, this may be adding fuel to an already heated fire.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” – Henry Ford

We must recognize that to be encouraged is to be confident, supported and strong when we are doubtful.

Therefore, encouraging ourselves is so significant because it gives us power over discouragement when we need it most.

When finding your way back seems impossible, use these techniques to assist you with getting back on the right path.

1) Set the Intention

Whether you are recovering from a recent failure or taking on a new task, set a good intention.

Avoid dwelling on anything that could potentially go wrong, do the opposite.

Think about a great outcome and talk about how wonderful it will be once you have achieved what it is that you’re wanting to complete.

Let this start when you wake up and continue throughout the day.

Declare to yourself that you already have what it is that you need to be successful. Make this a daily habit.

Every day is an opportunity to be great.

2) Be Grateful

Through tough times, even though we may not feel very positive, it’s important to be grateful.  Be thankful for your experiences good and bad.

The fact that you can read this blog post is a reason to say thanks for the ability to read and the means and device on which you can read it.

So, make a conscious effort not to take things for granted without giving gratitude.

3) Believe That You Can

Setting out to achieve a goal, that we may know very little about, can be extremely intimidating.

When we feel this way, we sometimes begin to procrastinate and give up on our dream.

But, a good method for overcoming this intimidation is to not go into it with the mindset that you can’t because you don’t know-how.

Think of it this way.  Before you could walk or run, you had to crawl.

Crawling is usually the first step into gaining self-mobility, right?  It was the first step and then the other steps followed.

In life, we need to remember that we don’t have to know everything all at once.

We just need to know what we want to accomplish and then take the steps to achieve what it is that we wish to achieve.

Most importantly, if failure happens, know that you can attempt it again, maybe just with a different approach.

So, take your time, do your research, and follow your steps.

4) Reward Your Victories

Take the time to recognize yourself when you have reached a goal.  Better yet, set small goals every day and meet them.

Rewarding yourself for small achievements will help give you the stamina to reach those bigger goals.

Make a checklist every night and follow through on what it is that you wish to accomplish the next day.  As you complete each task, check it off the list.

Doing this can help give you an immediate sense of satisfaction so pat yourself on the back.

5) Trust the Process

In case you haven’t figured it out, no one said that the road to achievement would be easy.  We encounter bumpy roads, detours, and rough trails.  But in the end, there is a reward.

Even though we may not know how long the journey may be, we should never stop looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

6) Feed Yourself With Positivity

When it gets tough and everything seems to be going wrong, surround yourself with activities and people that encourage you.  A wonderful way to eliminate feelings of discouragement is to do things that make you happy.

If taking a walk, listening to music, or meeting up with a friend sounds like fun, then go for it.

Something else that you may find enjoyable is listening to inspirational podcasts or audiobooks.

Each day gives us a new opportunity to feed our minds with positivity.  So, engage in activities that make you happy as often as you can.

“Don’t let past mistakes determine who you are or define who you are supposed to become.” – Felicia Veron

7) Forgive Yourself

Know that it is okay to make a mistake.

You’re not the only one who has made them, and they are part of the living process.  What is important is that you learn from them, grow from them, and move on from them.

Life is full of lessons, many of these lessons are learned from making mistakes.  So, give yourself permission to forgive yourself and do better the next time around.

Why You Should Let Go of Fear

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” – Jack Canfield

Now, don’t get me wrong, fear is a necessary emotion.  But it should be used when needed and then put away.

For example, you should be fearful of a hot stove so that you don’t get burned.

And, you shouldn’t stand too close to a ledge, for fear that you may fall.

The truth is, many of us hold on to fear and worry like it’s some sort of security blanket that gives us the ok not to do the things that we really desire.

I could go on, but my point is…many of us are just too accustomed to its convenience in our lives.

We do things like stay at a dead-end job for years on end because we feel that we won’t find another one that will satisfy our needs.

And even though we may be in an unhealthy relationship, we have a fear of being alone or feel that we just don’t deserve to be happy.

So, we stay out of comfort, and fear that we can’t do any better.

Afterall, we already know what we’re dealing with, right?

Often times we fail to take that leap of faith to either salvage what we have or simply move on, out of comfort.

A major contributor to these fearful emotions has to do with our surroundings.  Social media, news media, and negative talk from people who are around us can bring us down and keep us stagnant.

The Power of Letting Go of Fear

It is important to know that living with constant fear can cause disease in the body.

Chronic worry can eventually trigger the body into producing excess cortisol.

According to Dr. Travis Stork, M.D., from “The Drs.” television show, excessive cortisol can cause high blood pressure, obesity, and lead to type 2 diabetes.

You should also make note that fear is an emotion that is usually linked to the unknown.

Many times, we are afraid of things that haven’t even happened yet.

Unfortunately, these ill feelings can turn something that can potentially be good for us into something bad, emotionally.

But letting go, moving past it, and pushing through is a great way to start the healing process.

There truly is power in letting go and having the faith to fulfill our desires.

So why not start living better, being healthier and being stronger?

7 Ways to Free Yourself

1. Pray

Worrying and being fearful of situations in your life leads to stress, anxiety, and more worry and fear.

As we know, this offers no assistance whatsoever to what we may be dealing with.  Instead of casting these types of emotions, pray.

When you pray, be fervent and specific of a positive outcome, no matter what.

Ask for the success of that job promotion, blessings for safe travel over your trip or peace and love in your home.

Regardless to what it is, pray and hand it over to God first.

2. Make The Decision

Decide that you are going to change your situation.  It doesn’t matter if you want to change jobs, write a book, or lose 20 pounds.

This may mean that you need to take a course to sharpen your skills or network with a new set of people to help you in your advancement.

But whatever it is, go ahead and move forward.

Make the decision to taking the first steps in completing whatever it is that you wish to accomplish, change, or eliminate.

3. Update Your Circle

We’d like to think that the people that are closest to us will be there to celebrate our decisions and help us through our fears of stepping out on faith.  But this is not always the case.

You may find that you need to change your immediate circle if those around you offer discouragement.

This may be hard to do at first, but necessary.  If growth is what you need, it may be time to stay away from the naysayers.

Instead, surround yourself with people who are in support of what you are trying to accomplish.

Those who are not, really should be kept at a distance regarding your journey.

4. Move In Silence

If you have a goal that you would like to achieve, you may not want to speak about it to anyone that doesn’t have a definite need to know.

Keep in mind that it isn’t necessary to announce to everyone what you are up to.  You’d be surprised at the lengths that others would go to hinder you from your accomplishments.

Also, this offers you the ability to achieve what is needed without unnecessary distractions.  Move in silence and focus on your tasks.

5. Break The Monotony

It is true that we are creatures of habit.  We drive the same routes, hang out with the same people and do the same things day in and day out.

Maybe its time to shake it up a bit. Do things that encourage and require you to change such as joining a book club or taking up a new sport.

This can help you ease into changing old habits while forming new ones.

6. Write Out A Plan

Writing out your plans is a great way to log what you wish to achieve.  Having goals written down on paper helps as a guide while giving great perspective.

Completely a task and then marking it off can be rewarding and gives a great sense of accomplishment.

Going through the plan will aid in keeping you on track and bringing your dreams to life.

7. Learn To Be Uncomfortable

This is probably one of the main reasons why people don’t pursue things that they wish to accomplish.  They will be pulled out of there comfort zone, possibly not succeed, or perhaps come up against some challenges that they don’t like.

Something to make note of is that doing the same things is very comfortable, but it doesn’t do anything for your personal growth and will keep you in the same spot.

Instead of worrying about what could happen if you don’t achieve your goals, get excited about what could happen if you do.

Remember to push through and never give up on your dreams.

Coconut Oil: A Natural Beauty Solution

It wasn’t until I was getting an eye exam a few years back that I even thought about using coconut oil, and honestly I don’t remember how my optometrist and I even got on the subject.

But, I became really interested when he told me how excited he was about it.

He explained how frustrated he was about his eczema condition.  The creams that he had been prescribed never really worked well for him..

After suffering with this skin condition his whole life, he finally decided to look for a natural solution.

After researching natural remedies for eczema, he discovered that coconut oil was worth a try and began using it on a daily basis.

Well…. it cleared up his eczema.

He was so happy that he was finally relieved of this problem, that he wanted the whole world to know.

It was then that I decided to do a little research of my own.

What I discovered was that I never want to be without coconut oil again!!!

Literally, If I were on a deserted Island and could only have one beauty product, it would be coconut oil because of all the wonderful things that it does!!

Here are 10 ways in which you may want to add coconut oil to your beauty regimen.

  • Eye makeup remover

Dab a little coconut oil onto one of those cleansing cotton rounds.  Be sure not to tug to hard around the eye area and take your time so that you don’t cause any damage.  Gently rub back and forth and – voila!

  • Nail Growth

After a manicure, rub some coconut oil onto your cuticles.  This will help stimulate strong and healthy nail growth.

  • Massage Oil

You can use the coconut oil alone or add an essential oil such as lavender or peppermint to make it an aroma therapeutic massage. Continue reading “Coconut Oil: A Natural Beauty Solution”

To be honest, I didn’t think so…

I had spent years trying one diet after another with little to no success. This never- ending cycle of losing weight and gaining it back… losing weight and gaining it back, had grown really tired.

So, when I came across this book by JJ Smith, Lose Weight Without Dieting or Working Out, I thought to myself… why not?

The title really got my attention and I figured… maybe I’ll learn something different this time….

This book is a very good and easy read and it took me less than a week to complete.  I was hooked from the beginning because I was learning so much about what it was that I had been doing wrong all of this time.

The author, JJ Smith, seems to be really compassionate and stresses the importance of being educated about food and how it effects the body.

She introduces a permanent weight loss system that she has created called the DHEMM System which has literally changed my life.

Detoxify – Cleanse the body of toxins

Eat – Eat healthy foods that nourish the body

Move – Move your body throughout the day (No Gym Needed)

After following this program for 21 days I noticed a huge change in the way I looked and felt.  To top it off, I had lost those last few stubborn pounds without starving or working out. Continue reading “Can You Really Lose Weight Without Dieting or Working Out?”
