It wasn’t until I was getting an eye exam a few years back that I even thought about using coconut oil, and honestly I don’t remember how my optometrist and I even got on the subject.
But, I became really interested when he told me how excited he was about it.
He explained how frustrated he was about his eczema condition. The creams that he had been prescribed never really worked well for him..
After suffering with this skin condition his whole life, he finally decided to look for a natural solution.
After researching natural remedies for eczema, he discovered that coconut oil was worth a try and began using it on a daily basis.
Well…. it cleared up his eczema.
He was so happy that he was finally relieved of this problem, that he wanted the whole world to know.
It was then that I decided to do a little research of my own.
What I discovered was that I never want to be without coconut oil again!!!
Literally, If I were on a deserted Island and could only have one beauty product, it would be coconut oil because of all the wonderful things that it does!!
Here are 10 ways in which you may want to add coconut oil to your beauty regimen.
- Eye makeup remover
Dab a little coconut oil onto one of those cleansing cotton rounds. Be sure not to tug to hard around the eye area and take your time so that you don’t cause any damage. Gently rub back and forth and – voila!
- Nail Growth
After a manicure, rub some coconut oil onto your cuticles. This will help stimulate strong and healthy nail growth.
- Massage Oil
You can use the coconut oil alone or add an essential oil such as lavender or peppermint to make it an aroma therapeutic massage.
- Stretch Marks
During pregnancy, rub coconut oil on your stomach and thigh areas to help prevent stretch marks. You may also use the oil to help lessen the appearance of stretch marks that are already visible.
- Facial Moisturizer
After cleansing your face, rub in coconut oil to use as a daily moisturizer. Just a dab will do because a little goes a long way.
Make an exfoliating scrub by mixing half sugar and half coconut oil. Gently rub the solution into your skin and rinse to help remove dead skin cells and moisturize.
- Hair Growth
Rub oil into the pads of your fingertips and massage the scalp to help stimulate growth. To maintain long hair, rub the oil into the ends of your hair 3 times per week. This will help the ends to stay moisturized and help prevent hair breakage.
- Dry Lips
This works great as a lip balm for dry and chapped lips. For lips that are already chapped, you can rub in coconut oil with a soft toothbrush to help remove dry skin.
- Deep Hair Conditioner
Apply a generous amount of coconut throughout your hair and place a shower cap over it for a few hours overnight. Wash the hair thoroughly and style as normal.
- Heal Dry Feet
After a shower or bath, rub a generous amount of oil on to your feet and cover with a pair of warm fuzzy socks. This will help to soften dry heels after a few hours.
Finally, finding unrefined, cold pressed virgin coconut oil shouldn’t be hard at all. Just check your local drug store or health food store.
