Beauty Do’s and Don’ts for Mature Women
Do use a moisturizer daily. Mature skin needs it more than ever to assist with elasticity and hydration. Find a moisturizer that is formulated specifically for the face
Do use a cleanser to wash your face. Using a body soap may be drying to the skin. Also, you want to make sure to use a cleanser that will be beneficial to your skin type.
Do sleep with a satin bonnet. The hair should be protected during sleep to help protect your strands and minimize friction while tossing and turning. If a bonnet is uncomfortable, try a satin pillow case.
Do use an eyelash curler. Curling your lashes really makes a difference in giving the eye a wider appearance. It also gives your mascara application a huge boost.
Do use cream-based makeup. Cream based products really make a difference on mature skin. Too much powder may leave the skin al little ashy looking. Remember, it’s important to apply creamy type of shadows and concealers especially around the eye area to avoid creasing.
Do line your lips when applying lipstick. For a neat and polished make up look, the lips should be lined with a lip liner that enhances your skin and lipstick of choice.
Don’t ever sleep in your makeup. Doing this can clog your pores which causes acne. This is easy to do after a long day or a late night out but invest in some disposable make up wipes for times when you want to remove it quickly and get on with your beauty rest.
Don’t smear on your foundation. If you are not applying foundation with a foundation brush, then apply with a makeup sponge by patting the product into the skin.
Don’t over pluck your eyebrows. When the eyebrows are too thin, it gives an older appearance to the face. If necessary, visit a salon that specializes in eyebrow shaping… for a fresh start.
Don’t overdo it with the shimmer. A hint here or there is nice but shimmer on the eyes, lips, cheeks… can be a bit much. Instead choose a little for one area and then go with matte colors for the rest of your makeup application.
Don’t apply your makeup too heavy or too dark. Heavy makeup can be daunting, unattractive and make you look older.
