Give Gratitude

According to Buddha, giving gratitude is the highest protection against negativity.  By simply being appreciative of life’s blessings, you can elevate your mind into a positive state.

Find 5 things that you are grateful for each day and write them down in a journal.

It is really helpful to do this in the morning before you start your day, or a night right before bed.  Spending time reflecting on the good in our life can instantly put you into a joyful state of mind.

You may find that by doing this, you develop a better sense of tranquility and happiness throughout the day.

Harvard researchers have concluded that people who exercise on a regular basis tend to have healthier and happier attitudes.

If going to the gym is just not your thing, then make it priority to take a walk every day.  A little sun and fresh air are a couple of bonuses on a beautiful day.

Walking at least 10 minutes a day is enough to lift your mood because of the feel-good endorphins that are released when moving.  Not only can this make you feel happier, it can help to relieve stress and refresh your mind. Continue reading “Happy Habits That Will Change Your Life”

Wrinkles the Skin

Eating large amounts of sugar can have some very harmful effects to the skin. According to Californian Dermatologist, Sonia Batra,  having a diet filled with sugary foods can lead to wrinkles, loss of collagen and sagging skin.

These skin issues, which are due to (AGEs) advanced glycation end products, which are caused by having high amounts of protein and or fat combined with sugar in the bloodstream.

Increases Your Cravings

Have you ever eaten something sweet like a slice of cake and then immediately craved something else to sweeten your tooth?

That’s because consuming sugars can immediately give us a feeling of happiness.

In fact, the simple thought of eating something sweet can release large amounts of dopamine, which is a chemical in the body that sends signals to the brain.

As a result, you crave more sugar because of the immediate pleasure that it gives. Continue reading “Why You Should Reduce Your Sugar Consumption”

Coconut Oil: A Natural Beauty Solution

It wasn’t until I was getting an eye exam a few years back that I even thought about using coconut oil, and honestly I don’t remember how my optometrist and I even got on the subject.

But, I became really interested when he told me how excited he was about it.

He explained how frustrated he was about his eczema condition.  The creams that he had been prescribed never really worked well for him..

After suffering with this skin condition his whole life, he finally decided to look for a natural solution.

After researching natural remedies for eczema, he discovered that coconut oil was worth a try and began using it on a daily basis.

Well…. it cleared up his eczema.

He was so happy that he was finally relieved of this problem, that he wanted the whole world to know.

It was then that I decided to do a little research of my own.

What I discovered was that I never want to be without coconut oil again!!!

Literally, If I were on a deserted Island and could only have one beauty product, it would be coconut oil because of all the wonderful things that it does!!

Here are 10 ways in which you may want to add coconut oil to your beauty regimen.

  • Eye makeup remover

Dab a little coconut oil onto one of those cleansing cotton rounds.  Be sure not to tug to hard around the eye area and take your time so that you don’t cause any damage.  Gently rub back and forth and – voila!

  • Nail Growth

After a manicure, rub some coconut oil onto your cuticles.  This will help stimulate strong and healthy nail growth.

  • Massage Oil

You can use the coconut oil alone or add an essential oil such as lavender or peppermint to make it an aroma therapeutic massage. Continue reading “Coconut Oil: A Natural Beauty Solution”

5 Easy Ways to Minimize Your Processed Food Intake

This post may contain affiliate links.  Please read the disclaimer for more information.

So how easy is it to go to the vending machine and grab a snack?

It’s a little too easy.

And, what’s faster than pulling up to a drive-thru restaurant for a quick bite to eat?

You know where we’re going with this.

These days, it is so convenient to do the wrong things for our health because of time constraints and quick fixes.

It can feel as though we just don’t have the time to eat as healthy as we should, and no wonder….

Society has made eating the wrong foods so simple, that if you are not making a conscious effort to follow a healthy diet, you may end up riding the Processed Food Wagon.

But, eating this way has very negative effects on our bodies  over time, including disease and weight gain.

So…. What can you do to change that?

Instead of buying fast foods and other processed foods such as pasta, breads and instant meals, wander over to the produce section of the grocery store for fresh fruits and vegetables on your next visit.

Beans are a great source of fiber.  So for protein, try kidney beans, black beans or lentils.

But if you are a meat eater, then fresh natural/hormone free eggs, chicken, fish and turkey are also high in protein and  are great whole food choices.

Here is how you can minimize your unhealthy cravings and increase your desire for healthier whole food choices.

Reprogram your mind

Decide that you are going to eat better and follow through.

This means stocking your refrigerator and cabinets with healthy foods so that they are available to you.

You want to feel good, look good and follow a healthier lifestyle which means increasing your intake of whole foods and decreasing your intake and cravings for processed foods.

So make the necessary changes such as packing your lunch instead of eating out on a daily basis. Doing this will help you stick to your diet.

You will see how easy it is once your mind is set to do so. Continue reading “5 Easy Ways to Minimize Your Processed Food Intake”

Prevent Premature Wrinkles Now

Wrinkles…. once you’ve got em… you’ve got em.

Now, it may be true that there are products on the market that may help to reduce or somewhat reverse the appearance of wrinkles.

But, preventing wrinkles from creeping up on the skin before they should, will help with your appearance and skin health.

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the skin so that the newer skin is revealed.  It usually involves gently scrubbing the skin in a circular motion as to cleanse and rejuvenate the skins surface.

Skin collects dirt, makeup, and oils that cause it to look dull and wrinkled.  But, exfoliating the skin can unclog pores, clear blackheads and make the skin look and feel more youthful.

Cleansing the skin this way should be done no more than twice a week and is very beneficial when followed with a good hydrating cream to help lock in moisture.

Drink Water

So… being that the human body is made up of more than 50% water, it makes a lot of sense that drinking an adequate amount of water on a daily basis will help to increase hydration and decrease wrinkles.  The amount of water needed really depends on activity, gender and overall health of the individual.

However, the key thing to remember is that water should be your go-to-drink throughout the day.  Alcoholic beverages and sugary drinks should be kept at a minimum.

Stay Moisturized

Keeping your skin properly moisturized on a consistent basis is very beneficial.  It helps the skin along by giving it protection and a smoother appearance.  Look for ingredients that help to contain moisture such as aloe and glycerin, so that the skin can remain moisturized longer. The skin is a much-overlooked part of the body.

Well think about, when you are doing the things to take care of yourself, the thought of following a healthy diet or getting the proper rest and exercise may be among the top choices.

Does taking care of your skin rank high as well?

Well, don’t feel bad if it doesn’t, life happens all the time and unfortunately, just making sure that it is clean is really enough to get many of us through the day.

But, skin that is not properly cleansed will appear to be dry and dull due to the dead skin cells that have not been removed.

This is why it is important to exfoliate in order to remove those cells which will allow new cells to surface.

This process involves taking an exfoliating cleanser or scrub along with a sponge or towel and gently rubbing your body as you shower.  You may also use a cleansing brush to help rejuvenate the skin.

If you don’t currently exfoliate , please make it part of your weekly cleansing regimen.  You will also want follow directions of the cleansing products that you are using.

Lastly, it is also important not to apply extra pressure when exfoliating as to not cause any damage. Continue reading “Awaken Your Skin with These 3 Techniques”

To be honest, I didn’t think so…

I had spent years trying one diet after another with little to no success. This never- ending cycle of losing weight and gaining it back… losing weight and gaining it back, had grown really tired.

So, when I came across this book by JJ Smith, Lose Weight Without Dieting or Working Out, I thought to myself… why not?

The title really got my attention and I figured… maybe I’ll learn something different this time….

This book is a very good and easy read and it took me less than a week to complete.  I was hooked from the beginning because I was learning so much about what it was that I had been doing wrong all of this time.

The author, JJ Smith, seems to be really compassionate and stresses the importance of being educated about food and how it effects the body.

She introduces a permanent weight loss system that she has created called the DHEMM System which has literally changed my life.

Detoxify – Cleanse the body of toxins

Eat – Eat healthy foods that nourish the body

Move – Move your body throughout the day (No Gym Needed)

After following this program for 21 days I noticed a huge change in the way I looked and felt.  To top it off, I had lost those last few stubborn pounds without starving or working out. Continue reading “Can You Really Lose Weight Without Dieting or Working Out?”
